Yannick Valentin Markhof

PhD fellow

Research group(s):
8. Population, Development and Labour Economics
4. Governance and institutions

I am a PhD fellow at the United Nations University (UNU-MERIT) and a team member at the Living Standards Measurement unit of the World Bank. Prior to these roles, I worked for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). In my research, I collect and use survey microdata as well as large administrative datasets to investigate questions centering around economic shocks to vulnerable populations and public finance in low- and middle-income countries. Often, these projects use field or methodological experiments and aim to provide new evidence on hard-to-measure but policy-relevant issues. I hold a postgraduate degree with distinction in Economics for Development from the University of Oxford.

You can find my CV with an overview of the projects I am currently working on here.
