Mercedes Menéndez De Medina


PhD fellow

María de las Mercedes Menéndez is a PhD Fellow at UNU-MERIT. She holds a Master Degree in Economic History and a Bachelor Degree in Economics, both from the University of the Republic (UDELAR) in Uruguay. Before joining the PhD, María de las Mercedes has been working as a research assistant at IECON (UDELAR) in topics related to regional development and economic history. Also, she has been working on a project jointly organized by UDELAR and Gothenburg University researchers about peripheral development (1870-1970) whose aim is comparing the long-run economic development trajectories between Scandinavian countries and new settlement economies.
